In collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), UC San Diego and the Scripps Institute of Oceanography teamed up with other universities to create the Coastal Ocean Currents Monitoring Program (COCMP) which itself is part of a nationwide effort to form the Integrated Ocean Observing System.  The 54 land-based stations now span the California coastline, providing anyone with access to the Internet the ability to track past and near real-time movement of California’s coastal waters, including any floating pollutants.

Note: Previously to working with UCSD, we worked with California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo to design and build three similar systems, which were also part of the Coastal Ocean Currents Monitoring Program.
